The full checklist
Read the sequence before starting. Follow each step only when its preparation and branch conditions are met.
Record the cycle, options, Delay setting, start time and displayed estimate. The time estimate can change with water temperature, load and soil.
Source: Bosch SHPM65Z*** Operating instructions · pp. 13–14, 30–35, 44–45If Delay is active, distinguish waiting from actual wash time. If the door was opened and the wash paused, use the resume task rather than counting that pause as washing.
Source: Bosch SHPM65Z*** Operating instructions · pp. 13–14, 30–35, 44–45Check liquid rinse aid before the next wash and refill using the dedicated task if low. The manual links absent rinse aid or a zero setting with longer cycle time.
Source: Bosch SHPM65Z*** Operating instructions · pp. 13–14, 30–35, 44–45Before a comparison wash, run the nearest sink hot-water faucet as the manual suggests, taking normal scald precautions. This does not measure dishwasher inlet temperature or authorize plumbing alterations.
Source: Bosch SHPM65Z*** Operating instructions · pp. 13–14, 30–35, 44–45Choose a suitable cycle and options for the dishes and soil; scrape food pieces rather than prewashing normally attached soil. Allow the cycle to finish and record the time, any pause and end indication.
Source: Bosch SHPM65Z*** Operating instructions · pp. 13–14, 30–35, 44–45Compare with the manual tables for that cycle and option combination. Those tables assume 120°F (49°C) supply water and sensor adjustments; persistent unusual behavior under comparable conditions needs support, not a timed heater diagnosis.

When to stop
- Stop using the dishwasher for smoke, a burning smell, damaged wiring, an active leak or water near electrical equipment. Isolate power and water only from a safe, dry, accessible location; otherwise keep clear and request qualified help.
- Do not remove the pump cover, reach into the pump, open electrical panels, bypass the door interlock or move the installed dishwasher. Refer plumbing connections, installation and repairs to qualified service.
- Stop if a part is cracked, jammed, sharp, insecure or different from the matching manual. Do not force a fitting or touch hot water. Never mix cleaning products.
Every check and possible next step
Start at “Is the machine actually washing rather than waiting on Delay?”. Choose only what you observed. An unobserved condition is its own answer.
Is the machine actually washing rather than waiting on Delay?
Is the machine actually washing rather than waiting on Delay?
Record Delay separately from elapsed wash time.
- It is washing with no Delay wait being counted
Continue to Has the door remained closed without a paused-start prompt?. - Delay is active and it has not started washing
Observation and next step recorded — The recorded delay, door pause or rinse-aid condition should be resolved with its dedicated task before judging wash duration. - I have not checked this, or cannot observe it safely
Observation still needed — This check is not complete. A condition you have not observed is still unknown. Save the record and return when the preparation and observation can be completed safely; ask support if safe access is uncertain.

Has the door remained closed without a paused-start prompt?
Has the door remained closed without a paused-start prompt?
A door interruption can suspend operation until Start is pressed again.
Steps for this check: 2.
- There is no unresolved door pause
Continue to Is liquid rinse aid available for the comparison wash?. - Opening the door left the cycle paused

Is liquid rinse aid available for the comparison wash?
Refill if low; use the exact manual before changing an unknown dispenser setting.
Steps for this check: 3.
- Rinse aid is supplied
Continue to Did a suitable comparison wash reach its normal end indication?. - The reservoir is empty or the setting is known to be zero
Observation and next step recorded — The recorded delay, door pause or rinse-aid condition should be resolved with its dedicated task before judging wash duration. - I have not checked this, or cannot observe it safely

Did a suitable comparison wash reach its normal end indication?
Did a suitable comparison wash reach its normal end indication?
Record options, water-warmup action and any interruption. Do not judge by a single fluctuating estimate.
- The full cycle ended normally
Continue to Is the recorded time explainable by the selected options and conditions?. - It repeatedly fails to reach its end or shows an error
Pause and request qualified help — The observed condition needs qualified help. Keep the appliance out of use when a safety concern remains. Share the exact model, displayed message and your before/after observations; do not open panels, bypass a lock or access the pump. - I have not checked this, or cannot observe it safely

Use the matching manual table as context; the time can vary and is not a pass/fail limit.
Steps for this check: 6.
- The time is consistent with the recorded conditions
Observed result recorded — You recorded a complete cycle whose duration is consistent with its selected options and observed conditions. This is your observation, not independent confirmation of the appliance condition. - The unusual duration persists under comparable conditions
