The full checklist

Read the sequence before starting. Follow each step only when its preparation and branch conditions are met.

  1. Open the cool door to expose the top controls, press On/Off and note whether the display responds. A hidden display with the door closed is not evidence of no power. Do not open electrical panels.

  2. Check that a cycle can be selected. If a previous cycle prevents selection, use the separate cycle-reset task before choosing a new cycle.

    Source: Bosch SHPM65Z*** Operating instructions · pp. 33–36, 44, 46
  3. Check the Delay setting. To cancel an unwanted delay, press Delay until its delay value is zero (h:00), then press Start to save. Do not confuse the delay value with a completed-cycle 0:00.

  4. Check that no dish prevents closure and the door latches normally. Press Start and close the door within 4 seconds. If that interval is missed, press Start again and close within 4 seconds.

    Source: Bosch SHPM65Z*** Operating instructions · pp. 33–36, 44, 46
  5. Observe whether the cycle begins from outside. If controls respond but the machine does not fill, use the external inlet check; if the door or controls remain unresponsive, request support.

When to stop

  • Stop using the dishwasher for smoke, a burning smell, damaged wiring, an active leak or water near electrical equipment. Isolate power and water only from a safe, dry, accessible location; otherwise keep clear and request qualified help.
  • Do not remove the pump cover, reach into the pump, open electrical panels, bypass the door interlock or move the installed dishwasher. Refer plumbing connections, installation and repairs to qualified service.
  • Stop if a part is cracked, jammed, sharp, insecure or different from the matching manual. Do not force a fitting or touch hot water. Never mix cleaning products.
Every check and possible next step

Start at “Does the display respond with the top controls exposed?”. Choose only what you observed. An unobserved condition is its own answer.

Does the display respond with the top controls exposed?

Does the display respond with the top controls exposed?

Use dry hands and On/Off. Do not reset a repeatedly tripping breaker or touch wiring.

Steps for this check: 1.

  • The display responds
Continue to Can you select the intended cycle?.
  • There is no response or a breaker repeatedly trips
Pause and request qualified help — The observed condition needs qualified help. Keep the appliance out of use when a safety concern remains. Share the exact model, displayed message and your before/after observations; do not open panels, bypass a lock or access the pump.
  • I have not checked this, or cannot observe it safely
Observation still needed — This check is not complete. A condition you have not observed is still unknown. Save the record and return when the preparation and observation can be completed safely; ask support if safe access is uncertain.

Can you select the intended cycle?

Can you select the intended cycle?

An unfinished cycle can prevent a new selection.

Steps for this check: 2.

  • The intended cycle can be selected
Continue to Is the Delay value zero for an immediate start?.
  • The previous cycle blocks selection
Observation and next step recorded — Use the cycle-reset task if selection was blocked by a previous cycle, or the external inlet check if a selected cycle did not fill. No internal failure has been established.

Is the Delay value zero for an immediate start?

Is the Delay value zero for an immediate start?

Cancel an unwanted delay using the normal Delay and Start controls.

Steps for this check: 3.

  • Delay is zero or has been canceled
Continue to Did the unobstructed door latch within 4 seconds after Start?.
  • The delay cannot be canceled as described
Pause and request qualified help — The observed condition needs qualified help. Keep the appliance out of use when a safety concern remains. Share the exact model, displayed message and your before/after observations; do not open panels, bypass a lock or access the pump.

Did the unobstructed door latch within 4 seconds after Start?

Did the unobstructed door latch within 4 seconds after Start?

A resistant latch is not a reason to push harder.

Steps for this check: 4.

  • Yes, the door latched in time
Continue to Did a normal wash begin?.
  • The door will not latch or the Start prompt keeps returning
Pause and request qualified help — The observed condition needs qualified help. Keep the appliance out of use when a safety concern remains. Share the exact model, displayed message and your before/after observations; do not open panels, bypass a lock or access the pump.

Did a normal wash begin?

Did a normal wash begin?

Listen from outside; do not open a running wash merely to see the water.

Steps for this check: 5.

  • The wash began normally
Observed result recorded — You observed a wash begin after normal control and door checks. This is your observation, not independent confirmation of the appliance condition.
  • Controls respond but no filling or washing begins
Observation and next step recorded — Use the cycle-reset task if selection was blocked by a previous cycle, or the external inlet check if a selected cycle did not fill. No internal failure has been established.
  • I have not checked this, or cannot observe it safely
Observation still needed — This check is not complete. A condition you have not observed is still unknown. Save the record and return when the preparation and observation can be completed safely; ask support if safe access is uncertain.
